It is quite a common problem to get static shocks during the winter months. This usually occurs when you have your windows closed and your central heating on, this combined with a carpet made of man-made fibers like nylon and polypropylene. When walking on your carpet it can generate static charge which builds up through the sole of your shoes, this is why you get a static shock when touching a metal object.
There are some things you can do to help prevent the problem such as having house plants, installing humidifiers or opening windows. However if the problem persists then we are able to treat the issue by using an anti-static spray solution directly onto your carpet. For this to work your carpet needs to be cleaned first as any dirt in your carpet will more than likely prevent the solution working properly.
